“Winter party” of Our Lady of O Corpiño

On March 25 we celebrated the well-known “winter party” of Our Lady of O Corpiño.

24 hours for the Lord

Following the initiative of Pope Francis, on the 23rd and 24th of March we will have 24 hours for the Lord. There will be 24 hours of Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament and sacramental confession.

Actually the days are 24 and 25. But the 25 is celebrated in the Sanctuary known as “winter festival” of Our Lady of O Corpiño, for that reason, we have advanced Adoration one day. It will serve us, in this way to prepare ourselves inwardly to honor it on the day of its feast.

Day of Seminar 2017

Prayer for the seminarians and for the increase of priestly vocations:

God the Father,
That with the example of your Son teach us that there is no true love without the generous dedication of one’s life, it helps those who prepare in our seminaries to be shepherds according to your heart, close to you, and close to our brothers and sisters.

May they be in the midst of our society your eyes and your hands, to see, to heal and to accompany so many that are wounded in the way.

May you not lack in your Church young people willing to serve you according to your will, that with your life and your word show others your merciful love.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The presbytery regains its color

The smoke of the candles and the passage of the years has almost completely obscured the murals of the vault of the Sanctuary. The main altarpiece has a varnish that has darkened over the years and does not allow to see its original color. The Center of Conservation and Restoration San Martin de Ourense is in charge of carrying out the works. It will take about 4 months, so for the Pilgrimage of Our Lady of O Corpiño we will enjoy the finished work. The restoration works are done only thanks to the donations of the devotees of Our Lady of O Corpiño.

Beginning of Lent

“Lent is a new beginning, a path leading to the certain goal of Easter, Christ’s victory over death. This season urgently calls us to conversion. Christians are asked to return to God “with all their hearts” (Joel 2:12), to refuse to settle for mediocrity and to grow in friendship with the Lord. Jesus is the faithful friend who never abandons us. Even when we sin, he patiently awaits our return; by that patient expectation, he shows us his readiness to forgive.

Lent is a favourable season for deepening our spiritual life through the means of sanctification offered us by the Church: fasting, prayer and almsgiving. At the basis of everything is the word of God, which during this season we are invited to hear and ponder more deeply.”
